Important Dates: The 117th NAACP National Convention – Happening in Chicago

The NAACP’s first national convention in Chicago was in June 1926, a time when the civil rights movement was working to impart much-needed change for the Black community. A century later, the NAACP will return to the city in the Summer of 2026 with the same vision in mind – to galvanize and empower Black America.

This national stage brings together brilliant young minds, master teachers, mentors, and families to honor Black excellence and elevate the next generation of innovators and storytellers. According to the NAACP, the 2026 National ACT‑SO Competition will take place July 15–19, 2026.

Riverside NAACP Youth Council for the Membership Meeting

Join us for an evening of remembrance for Claudette Colvin’s activism, defiance, and bravery, which sparked the modern Civil Rights Movement. As we reach the end of the first month of 2026, we must stand together and remind ourselves of the commitments we make to justice and equality for our community.
